Diane "Nuits" Nix caught for Smitty's team in the Tell City Women's Softball League for 11 years until a shoulder injury ended her career in 2001.
During that time she was generally considered the best defensive catcher in the league. But she said Thursday she's glad she doesn't have to play there this season.
What provoked that sentiment was the fact that women's slowpitch players will be allowed to steal bases this year for the first time.
