MARENGO—Perry Central batters struck out 12 times in a 3-1 PLAC baseball loss to Crawford County Thursday.
“They had a guy who threw pretty well,” said Perry Central Coach Jeremy Edwards. “He had some curveballs and other off-speed stuff we just couldn’t hit.
“He had us out on our front foot a little bit - we just didn’t make good contact.”
Ethan Myler, Wyatt Edwards, Luke Bishop and Hunter Sodrel each hit a single to account for the Commodores’ four hits.
They scored their run with two outs in the third inning. Edwards singled, stole second base, and scored on Myler’s single to left-center field.
Myler pitched a five-hitter, striking out four and walking only two.
But he was hurt by the Commodores’ lack of offense and their committing three errors on defense.
Perry Central fell to 1-1 in the PLAC and 2-4 overall. Crawford County improved to 2-0 in the PLAC.
The Commodores will host Cannelton today at 4:30 p.m.
