Whitesville holds off Cannelton

WHITESVILLE, Ky.—Five bad serves hurt Cannelton in a 24-26, 25-20, 25-15 volleyball loss to Whitesville Trinity Thursday.

Cannelton did have “a lot of good spikes,” said Coach Heather Garrison. “I’m definitely seeing improvement.”

Sarah Powers and Allicyn Garrett each made six spikes and Jaci Garrett and Sammie James each added five. Three of Allicyn Garrett’s went for kills.

Nakaa Myers made 28 good sets.

Cannelton served nine aces, including three by Jaci Garrett.

James made five digs and Allicyn Garrett added four.

Cannelton won the junior varsity match 21-19, 21-18 as Whitney Nugent made three spikes and Powers, Myers and Shy May each served two aces.

May also made five good sets and three digs.

Cannelton, 0-5 in varsity and 3-2 in JV, will visit New Harmony Saturday at 10 a.m.
