TELL CITY - Thyssen-Krupp Waupaca Inc. has filed an application with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management seeking to modify an air-quality operating permit for its plant in Perry County.

The company has applied to construct a new paint booth and to modify the capacity of one of its operating lines from 25 tons per hour to 35 tons. As a result, the company is seeking to revise lead and beryllium emission limits.

IDEM has reviewed the application and developed a draft permit that would allow Waupaca to make the changes. A copy of the permit application and IDEM's preliminary findings can be found at the Tell City-Perry County Public Library or online at www.in.gov/idem/permits/air/pending.html. A 30-day public comment period is under way.

Comments may be mailed to IDEM, Office of Air Quality 100 N. Senate Ave., MC 61-53 IGCN 1003, Indianapolis, IN 46204-2251. Those making comments should refer to permit numbers 123-25303-00019 and 123-25309-00019 in their correspondence.
