BOONVILLE—Tell City’s Mason Waninger shot an 11-over-par 82 to place fifth among 44 golfers in the Warrick County Invitational at Boonville Country Club Saturday.
Waninger, a sophomore, parred eight holes as he shot his best round of the season.
Tell City’s other participants were Grant Bolin, who shot 91, and Damian Harney, 94.
Bolin parred four holes and Harney scored the team’s only birdie on the par-4, No. 8 hole.
“While we again didn’t have four golfers to compete as a team, our kids played pretty well,” said Tell City acting coach Kevin Waninger.
“Interestingly, with the two best teams in the conference playing elsewhere, players from PAC teams placed first, second, third and fifth in the tournament, showing the strength of the conference.”
South Spencer shot 330 to win the tourney.
South Spencer’s Joe Davis and Tyler Forston each shot a tourney-best 77. Davis then earned medalist honors by defeating Forston in a playoff.
Tell City will participate in the sectional at Sultan’s Run course in Jasper Friday.
