INDIANAPOLIS—Tell City graduate Amanda Wagner was named the Most Valuable Performer on Butler University’s women’s swim team for the second year in a row at the team’s awards banquet Sunday.
Wagner, a sophomore, turned in the second fastest 100-yard breaststroke time in Butler history as she placed fifth in the Big East Conference in that race in 1:05.54, only two-hundredths of a second from the school record.
She was 10th in the conference in the 200 breast in 2:27.84, fourth best in Butler history, and swam on three school-record relay teams, the 200 medley relay, 200 free relay and 400 medley relay.
Wagner also helped Butler’s team earn the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-American status for the 2013-14 school year.
