PERRY COUNTY – Perry County Clerk Jean Schulthise reminds voters that Oct. 9 is the last day to register to vote for the general election to be held Nov. 6.
Registration applications must be received in her office, by mail or in person, by the close of the business that day.
Voter-registration forms and instructions for submitting them are available at the clerk’s office. Voters may also register at any office of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles or online at www.indianavoters.com.
Oct. 8 is the first day to vote in Indiana in person before an absentee-voter board in the county courthouse. Absentee voting will be set up in the commissioners meeting room. Absentee voting will be available Oct. 8 through noon, Nov. 5.
The following schedule has been set:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Absentee voting will be closed from noon to 1 p.m. each day for lunch.
The clerk’s office will also be open the two Saturdays prior to the election, Oct. 27 and Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to noon for voting only.
Absentee voting can also be done by mail by submitting an application through the clerk’s office. The applications can be requested by calling the clerk’s office at 547-3741.
The deadline for absentee-by-mail applications to be received in the clerk’s office is Oct. 29 in order to allow time for the ballots to be sent and returned prior to the election.
