Vocalist earns silver rating in solo contest

Instrumental musicians were to compete Saturday

HUNTINGBURG - Perry Central High School's Kynslee Roberts earned a silver rating in district-level solo-vocalist competition Jan. 26 at Southridge High School, Huntingburg.

She performed a Samuel Barber piece, "Sure on This Shining Night," in Group 1, denoting the highest level of difficulty in the Indiana State School Music Association contest. A gold rating would have qualified her to compete at the state level, where she earned a top ranking last year.
