VNA Plus observes Wise Consumer Health month

-A A +A

TELL CITY – In order to help members of the community be better health-care consumers, VNA Plus is promoting Wise Health Consumer Month. The primary goal is to teach people how to be more involved in their own health care.
When choosing home-care services, it is important that you trust the caregiver’s ability to perform the duties required in an honest, safe and compassionate manner, said VNA Plus staff. It is also critical that you understand what services are available, how often they are provided, how long your care will last, what costs you may be responsible for and available payment options.
Following are questions you should ask all potential providers:
Are you a licensed home care agency, registry or broker, or independent contractor?
Are you Medicare-Medicaid certified?
How long have you been in business?
Do you conduct background checks on employees?
Do you adhere to state and federal guidelines regarding taxes, workers’ compensation, payroll and other employee matters?
Is there a contract for services and if so, what is the cancellation policy?
Are replacement caregivers available if the primary caregiver is unable to work?
How are calls after business hours and on weekends handled?
If my needs change, will I have to switch to another agency?
VNA Plus is a home-care and hospice agency that serves 21 counties in the tri-state area. For more information about VNA Plus services in your area, call (800) 326-4862.
