TELL CITY - The fourth annual Hemming Challenge Vintage Car Rally will visit Tell City July 29, giving residents a look at classic vehicles taking part in a five-day race.

Drivers and their navigators will begin arriving around 11:30 a.m. and will be introduced in front of City Hall as they pass by on Main Street. Teams will park their cars in and near the park and will greet visitors until about 1:30 p.m.

During this time the public is invited to meet the drivers hailing from across the country and view the vintage cars, some of which are from the 1920s.

There will be entertainment, food vendors and gifts for children, while available.

The Hemmings Challenge Vintage Car Rally is a timed race with two-person teams. They can only use a simple clock, wrist- and stopwatches, approved speedometers and basic instructions. No electronic devices are allowed.

The teams start in Bowling Green, Ky., and race to a different city each day for five days, returning to Bowling Green each evening. At each stop, the host city provides lunch.

Proceeds from the event support autism awareness. For more information on the Hemmings Challenge, visit www.VintageCarRally. com.

Local participation in the event is sponsored by the city of Tell City and the Quality of Life Committee of the Perry County Development Corp.
