Vikings slay Commodores

POSEYVILLE - Perry Central could not get its inside offense going and lost to North Posey 55-34 in girls basketball Saturday.

The Commodores hit 3 of 7 three-point shots but only 9 of 29 from two-point range.

Their three starting frontline players combined for just 10 points on 4 for 13 field-goal shooting and 2 for 6 free throws.

The Commodores also had trouble getting the ball to their frontliners, as they committed 22 turnovers.

Sophomore guard Alyssa Like led North Posey with 19 points.

She scored 15 points in the first quarter, including four three-point baskets, as the Vikings jumped to a 24-7 lead.

They increased their lead to 48-21 by the end of the third quarter.

Senior guard Melissa Hahus led Perry Central with eight points, including two three-point baskets.

Alie Schroeder grabbed 10 rebounds for the Commodores and Hilarie Hahus added six.

Schroeder had three assists and Rachael Rayford made five steals.

Perry Central fell to 5-10 while North Posey improved to 9-4.

Perry Central won the junior varsity game 28-22 as freshman point guard Lavina Schwartz scored 17 points and made five steals. She hit 13 of 16 free throws.

Katie Schwartz grabbed seven rebounds for the 7-4 Commodores.

Perry Central will host Heritage Hills tonight at 6.
