UPDATE, Aug. 2, 8:40 a.m.: A Tell City man who disappeared last week was found Monday in an Evansville hospital.
Perry County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Shadwick said Kurtis W. Head was located at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Shadwick said he had checked multiple times with area hospitals starting Thursday, but none of them reported having Head as a patient.
A search of the Ohio River took place Monday with help from the Perry County Rescue Squad and Indiana conservation officers. That search was called off when officers learned Head was in the hospital. Shadwick said the man has been reunited with family members.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Perry County Sheriff's Office is investigating the disapperance of a Tell City man.
Sheriff's Deputy Jason Shadwick stated that the sheriff's department took an initial report on the evening of Thursday, July 28, from the Troy area. Kurtis W. Head, 29 of 1701 13th St., Tell City was reportedly working at Riverside Diner in Troy. His employer reported that he went outside for a break and never returned to work.
Head is believed to be endangered and is off of his medications.
Shadwick also said that Head is an insulin-dependent diabetic and has to take insulin up to three times a day. Shadwick said Head doesn't have his insulin or glucometer with him.
The missing man is believed to be operating his silver 2008 Kia Sportage SUV with Indiana plates 235ZXE.
Shadwick said deputies and local police are continuing their search for Head. Head also has family in Dubois County.
