Safe-sitter classes at PCMH in June
TELL CITY – Safe Sitter babysitting classes will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 6 and June 10 at the Perry County EMS building in Tell City.
Those wishing to participate will choose one class to attend. The class is designed for 11 to13 year olds to learn safety for babysitters, basic child-care skills, how to entertain children, babysitting as a business, CPR skills and what to do if a child chokes. The fee for the class is $30 per student with partial scholarships available based on need. Registration and payment are due by May 17. Class size is limited.

Free PCMH screenings
PERRY COUNTY – Perry County Memorial Hospital will offer free blood pressure, glucose (sugar) and total cholesterol screenings. This is a free community service offered at two different locations every month.
In May, a registered nurse will be at the Rome United Methodist Church from 8:30 to10 a.m. May 15 and at Marcy’s in Leopold from 9 to 11 a.m. May 16. Fasting for two hours is recommended prior to the screenings; fasting for eight hours is preferred. Those participating in the tests may drink water and take medications.

Smoking cessation program at PCMH
TELL CITY – Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City will offer free quit smoking classes in May. Three classes are scheduled for consecutive Wednesdays, May 1, May 8 and May 15 from 6 to 7 p.m.
“Freshstart,” an American Cancer Society program, provides individuals with effective tools to use while learning to quit smoking.
