PERRY COUNTY – Are you ready to help stuff a bus to help families in need? United Way of Perry County will sponsor the fifth Stuff the Bus school-supply drive July 29-30 for area students in need.
United Way, Wal-Mart and area volunteers will once again join together to solicit donations of much needed school supplies for all Perry County and North Spencer County school corporations.
Last year’s event gathered more than 5,160 items valued at approximately $3,200, which was about 1,800 less items than the previous year. The hope is to increase those totals this year due to the continued need in the community, organizers said.
United Way will be “Stuffing the Bus” Friday and Saturday, July 29 and 30, at the Tell City Wal-Mart.
Volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days to help the public “stuff” the school bus of their choice. All supplies will be distributed to children in need by the local school contacts.
Local businesses are encouraged to have their own Stuff the Bus collections. Volunteers will pick up donations prior to July 29.
