TELL CITY – A traffic stop led to the arrest of a county man Monday night. According to Cannelton Patrolman Micah Jackson, a Perry County deputy made contact with Matthew Poehlein of Cannelton during a traffic stop near the 400 block of N. Fourth Street in Cannelton.

Jackson and his narcotics canine, Erik, arrived on scene and the dog allegedly alerted to the possible presence of illegal narcotics. A search of Poehlein and the vehicle allegedly turned up what officers believe to be marijuana, drug paraphernalia, several pills that they believe contain pseudoephedrine and a white substance that initially tested positive for amphetamines.

Poehlein was arrested and charged with possession of paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of controlled substances.

Cannelton Police Department Officers Ryan Smith and Brandon Berger assisted Jackson at the scene.
