LEOPOLD - Members of the Perry Central School Board approved the hiring of new elementary teachers and a part-time instructional assistant during an Aug. 10 meeting.

During a separate meeting Monday, the board heard no comment on the district's proposed 2010 budget and sent it toward a September adoption.

At the recommendation of elementary principal Ray James, Ashley Meyer and Brandi Springer have joined the elementary school's faculty. Meyer will teach fifth grade while Springer will instruct first-graders.

A third new instructor, Valerie Knieriem, was hired by the board this summer as an elementary special-needs teacher.

In other personnel recommendations, Brandi Hess was hired as a part-time instructional assistant, as was Lindsey Rogier.

Ashley Meyer and Jamie Guillaume will serve as varsity cheerleading sponsors with Francie Wagner and Ruth Lueken appointed as temporary speech therapists, each working 2 1/2 days per week.

Bob Linne's resignation as junior-high golf coach was approved, as was the resignation of Julie Duke-Hubert as an instructional assistant.

Morgan Labhart's appointment as a volunteer football coach was also approved by the board.
