Mary Thrasher, center, celebrated her upcoming 90th birthday with a party at Evangelical United Church of Christ April 13. Her daughter, Karen Marcroft of Mountain View, Calif., behind Mary, and her niece Aleta Best of Sterling Va., right, traveled to Tell City to help Mary celebrate.
Her nephew Charlie Ahlf and his wife, Mary, traveled from Evansville, her cousin Ed Hauenstein traveled from Newburgh, and her stepdaugher Connie Jaquith (Hugh Thrasher’s daughter) traveled from Louisville, Ky. Many of Mary’s Tell City friends and relatives also attended. Chris Cail, left, presented Mary a certificate honoring her for her work with the Tell City Historical Society, and everyone enjoyed visiting during the afternoon gathering. Live music by Classic Country, cake and ice cream were provided. Mary also entertained everyone by playing the piano. The day before the party, Mary, Karen and Aleta traveled to Evansville to visit with Mary’s sister-in-law, Margaret (Treumpy) Ahlf and Mary’s niece Patty (Ahlf) Britt. The family thanks the EUCC Women’s Guild for providing beverages and for help around the church kitchen. Mary turned 90 April 25. The party was held early so as many family members as possible could attend.
