TELL CITY - Gibson Southern's double-threat quarterback will test Tell City's defense when the two meet in PAC football Friday at 7 p.m.
Cory Michel, a 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior, quarterbacks the 3-4 Titans. He is ninth in southwestern Indiana in passing yardage with 708 yards. He has completed 66 of 131 passes for 50.4 percent.
But in last week's 63-20 win over Pike Central he scored five touchdowns on runs of 42, 41, 1, 72 and 52 yards.
Excelling in both areas is not new for Michel, as he passed for over 1,000 yards last year and also ran for over 1,000 yards.
Josh Sollman is Michel's top receiver. He has caught 22 passes for 266 yards.
Brandon Foster, a 6-foot, 210-pound senior, is another offensive threat for the Titans, as he was a junior all-state running back last year.
But this year he has excelled more on defense. A linebacker, he was second in southwestern Indiana in tackles with 70 going into last week's game.
The Titans don't have the size or depth they had on defense last year, though.
They are giving up 27.9 points per game; last year they were allowing just 11.6 points per game coming into the Tell City contest.
