Tell City ties for fourth in relay meet

TELL CITY - Tell City's highest finish was third place in the backstroke relay as the Marksmen tied for fourth in their nine-team boys swimming relay meet Saturday.

Freshmen Justin Peter and Jarrod Clayton and sophomore Nick Bower placed third in the 150-yard backstroke relay in 1:44.04.

The Marksmen also placed fourth in three races.

Peter, Bryson May, Greg Clayton and Bower took fourth in the 400 medley relay in 4:49.31.

Zach Avallone, Greg Clayton, May and Isaac Schaefer placed fourth in the 1,000 freestyle relay in 11:47.12.

J.D. Bryant, Nick Dauby, Trevor Nelson and Schaefer were fourth in the 250 free relay in 2:29.58.

Castle won the relay meet and also beat the Marksmen 143-42 in a dual meet last Thursday.

Tell City won two events in that meet. Greg Clayton took the 200 free 2:06.35 and Taylor Maddle won the diving with 159.40 points.

Castle swept the top two places in every other event, including relays.

Avallone earned the Marksmen's only individual third place, swimming the 50 free in 25.59 seconds.

Tell City, 1-1 in dual meets and 5-4-1 overall, will swim a dual meet at Jasper tonight at 5:30.
