TELL CITY—Tell City’s high school archery team shot 3,189 in its own tourney last weekend to qualify for the NASP state tourney.
Nathan Freeman led the team and was followed by Grant Bolin and Nick Arnold.
Top female shooters were Jena Albor, Elsa Hernandez and Sarah Nguyen.
The state tourney will be March 22 in Indianapolis.
Tell City’s middle school team shot its best score of the season, 2,883, falling just 16 points short of qualifying for the state tourney. There is still a possibility of their being asked to compete if enough teams in their division aren’t able to make the cut.
“They did an awesome job shooting in their first qualifier,” said Tell City Coach Dan Freeman.
Tell City’s top shooters were Kyle Masterson, Hannah Rhodes, Josh Gaynor and Tucker Finley.
A total of 601 archers from 30 teams competed in the two divisions combined, making it the biggest tourney Tell City has hosted.
