HAWESVILLE, Ky.—Strong pitching by Josalyn Ress helped Tell City place second in Hancock County’s eight-team girls softball tourney Friday and Saturday.
Tell City went 4-2 in the tourney and is 7-2 for the season, the best start in the team’s 14-year history.
Ress pitched five of the tourney games, striking out 48 and walking only two in 35 innings. She gave up 19 hits and pitched two shutouts.
Meagan Lawalin also pitched a shutout, beating Owensboro 12-0 in five innings. She gave up two hits and one walk and struck out eight.
