The 150th anniversary of Tell City's founding is just around the corner. Here's a list of planned events. Watch for details in The News or at www.tellcity150.com or call 547-2385.

Thursday through Sunday, July 31-Aug. 3

Performances of musical "1776" in the Tell City High School Auditorium. Show times are 8 p.m. July 31 and Aug. 1-2 and 2 p.m. Aug. 3.

Information on purchasing tickets will be announced soon. Watch for updates in The News.

Saturday, Aug. 2

Sesquicentennial parade, opening ceremony, barbecue contest, barbershop quartet, all-class reunion, Duke Boys performing.

Sunday, Aug. 3

Kids Day activities, train and fire-engine tours, tethered hot-air balloon, firefighters' waterball contest, horse-and-wagon rides, diaper derby, street-car parade, pet show, climbing wall, multi-faith service.

Monday, Aug. 4

Comedian Carl Hurley preforming at 7 p.m. at high school, Youth Days begin.

Tuesday, Aug. 5

Youth Days continue, tennis tourney, old-timers baseball game, queen contest.

Wednesday, Aug. 6

Family night with free rides, TCHS band concert, museum of science display, beer garden with Rackaboogie Band.

Thursday, Aug. 7

Tell City Historical Society trolley tours, rides, talent show, train excursion, history museum, walking tours, testimonial dinner, beer garden with Linda Smith performing. Musical sponsor, Frederick Sheet Metal.

Friday, Aug. 8

Trolley tours and train excursion continue, walking tours, line dancing, fashion show, teen night, beer garden with Above the Law performing. Musical sponsor, Home Mutual Insurance Co.

Saturday, Aug. 9

Trolley tours and train excursions continue, time-capsule sealing, tennis tourney, golf open, road run, hot-air balloon race, gospel music, line dancing, wine tasting with German band, beer garden with Stomp Box 40 performing.

Closing ceremony with fireworks sponsored by Mulzer Crushed Stone.
