Tell City second in triangular match

BOONVILLE—Corey Young shot a 4-over-par 39 for medalist honors as Tell City finished second in a three-team boys golf match Wednesday.

Host Boonville won with 172 strokes on the Quail Crossing course. Tell City shot 186 and Princeton 196.

Young birdied the par-4 No. 2 hole.

Other Tell City scorers were Alex Cole with a 44, Vic Schutzius 50, and Jake Roland 53.

Logan Bolin was the Marksmen’s fifth man with a 55.

Tell City lost to South Spencer 187-202 at Rockport’s Lakewood Country Club Tuesday.

“We had a lot of our old habits leak back into our game,” Tell City Coach Jim Meek said of that match.

Young shot a 7-over-par 43 to lead the Marksmen. He was one stroke behind medalist Mark Broeker of South Spencer.

Other Tell City scorers were Schutzius with a 51 and Bolin and Roland each 54.

Tell City, 6-21, will host Perry Central and Crawford County Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
