TELL CITY - Perhaps Tell City's baseball team should join the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference.
The Marksmen are 2-1 against SIAC teams after rallying for seven runs in the sixth inning to beat Harrison 9-3 Thursday.
Harrison entered the game with a 4-1 record and led 3-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning.
But four hits, five walks and one Harrison error that inning gave the Marksmen a six-run lead.
"It was a combination of us doing a good job of putting the ball in play and a couple of our hits going over their pulled-in infield that maybe would've been caught if their infield had been playing at normal depth," said Tell City Coach Phil DeSpain.
Ryan Zuelly's two-run single was the biggest hit of the inning.
Zuelly also hit a double and scored a run in the second inning. Cody Pfeifer also had two of the Marksmen's six hits.
Eric Henrickson led the Marksmen in RBIs with two.
Jordan Rhodes, who had come on to pitch in the top of the sixth, earned the win as the result of the Marksmen's big inning. He struck out one and walked none in two innings.
Michael DuPre pitched the first five innings for the Marksmen, striking out four and walking three.
"We were trying to limit his pitch count to 80 to 85, and 89 got him through the fifth inning," said DeSpain.
Tell City's game at Breckin-ridge County Wednesday was rained out and had not been rescheduled at press time.
The 2-3 Marksmen will visit South Spencer Wednesday at 5 p.m.
