ROCKPORT – Several former and current Tell City players had strong performances playing for Spencer County-based Senior Legion baseball teams last week.
2012 graduate Dayne Seibert had an RBI to help lead Rockport Post 254 to a 7-1 win over the Hoosier Express Friday night. Seibert’s RBI came on a fourth-inning fielder’s choice, which pushed the team’s lead to 4-0. In a losing effort, Austin Paulin had a good game for the Express, finishing with two of the team’s five hits.
Paulin helped give the Express a great chance to jump ahead early. In a scoreless second inning, he led off with a single and got to third with two outs as the team loaded the bases.
They failed to score, however, and Rockport eventually opened a 7-0 lead before the Express finally cracked the scoreboard in the top of the seventh.
Spencer Beard and Seifert combined for five hits and C.J. Rowe got the win on the mound Saturday, leading Post 254 to a 7-2 victory over Lyon County.
Beard was one of six Rockport players to finish with an RBI and Rowe struck out six in six innings to get his first victory of the season.
