DUBOIS—The Sherry twins placed in the top 10 to lead Tell City to second place in Northeast Dubois’ eight-team boys cross country invitational Tuesday.
The Marksmen scored 68 points. Bedford-North Lawrence won with 20. “They’re just awesome,” said Tell City Coach Chris Hollinden.
Caleb Sherry placed seventh in 17:59 “in a pretty deep field,” said Hollinden.
Cameron Sherry was 10th in 18:15.
Tell City’s other four runners all placed in the top 25 in the 60-runner race.
Donovan Ingle was 14th in 18:15, Brook Smith 17th in 18:38, Brandon Gaynor 20th in 18:50, and Travis Robinson 25th in 19:23.
Freshman Clayton Byrne placed 11th in the 48-runner JV race in 19:35 to earn the Marksmen’s seventh varsity spot for next week’s sectional.
Other Marksmen placing in the top 20 in the JV race were Zach Ziegelgruber, 13th in 19:51; Eli Reed, 15th in 19:59; and Reed Goffinet, 16th 20:17.
Tell City did not have enough runners for a team score in the varsity girls race, as one was sick and one was out of town.
But Mariah Blake “ran awesome,” said Tell City Coach Katie Weyer. She placed fifth in 21:55.
Other Tell City finishers were Addie Terry, 21st in 23:28; Bailey Powell, 29th in 24:33; and Audrie Terry, 32nd in 25:34.
Tell City will compete in the Jasper sectional at Vincennes University-Jasper Center Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Varsity boys team scores: Bedford-North Lawrence 20, Tell City 68, Princeton 87, Northeast Dubois 109, Jasper 126, Washington 181, Southridge 186, Loogootee 208
