INDIANAPOLIS—Tell City drew a co-favorite while Perry Central avoided the favorite in its sectional for one game in IHSAA football sectional drawings Sunday.
Tell City will open play in its seven-team Class 2A sectional at North Posey 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19. North Posey is 8-0 and ranked No. 3 in the state in the Class 2A coaches poll.
Tell City, 3-5, played the Vikings better than most in the regular season, losing 42-20 Sept. 28. Only two teams have scored more points against the Vikings this year.
If the Marksmen upset North Posey, they would likely have to play Mater Dei, ranked No. 2 in the state, in the second round. Mater Dei, which has lost only to undefeated Class 5A power Castle, will play Southridge in a first-round game.
In the other bracket South Spencer will play Sullivan, with the winner taking on Forest Park.
Perry Central, 5-3, will host 5-3 Eastern Greene in the first-round of their eight-team Class A sectional 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19.
The winner will likely face Linton-Stockton, 8-0 and ranked No. 1 in the state, in the second round.
If Perry Central and Linton do meet in the second round, that game would be at Linton.
In the other bracket North Daviess visits Union of Dugger and Tecumseh hosts Wood Memorial in the first round.
