Tell City musicians capture 34 gold medals

HUNTINGBURG - Tell City-Troy Township seventh- through 12th-grade student performers brought home 34 gold, 15 silver and two bronze medals from district-level solo-and-ensemble competitions at Southridge High School Saturday.

Those earning gold in the top group qualified to compete at the state level Feb. 23 at North Central High School, Indianapolis. Solo qualifiers include Ariel Etienne, French horn; Nick Hawkins, snare drum; Benji Koelling, drum set; Amber Mueller, trombone; Jessica Niswonger, alto saxophone and Sarah Roccia, clarinet.
