PETERSBURG—Logan Flannagan had 15 points and eight rebounds as Tell City defeated Pike Central 49-44 in PAC girls basketball Tuesday.
Flannagan scored eight points in the fourth quarter on two field goals and 2-for-2 free-throw shooting as the Marksmen held off a late challenge from the Chargers.
For the game she hit 4 of 11 shots from the field and 7 of 8 free throws.
Kassidie Hayes added nine points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots despite playing only about half the game due to foul trouble.
“For us to win on the road with her playing only half a game was a good win,” said Tell City Coach John Hayes.
Taylor Gentry added eight points on 3 of 6 field-goal shooting and 2 of 3 free throws.
Sophomore guards Celina Snyder and Brenee Leibering had five and four assists, respectively, for Tell City.
“I thought Brenee and Celina both did a pretty good job of beating the pressure and finding Taylor, Kassie or Logan,” said Hayes.
He also credited the Marksmen’s strong man-to-man defense for the win. “Again for us to give up only 44 points I thought was pretty good. We did have some lapses at times in allowing penetration.”
Tell City improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the PAC. Pike Central fell to 0-4 overall, 0-1 in the conference.
The Marksmen will host Southridge Thursday at 7 p.m.
