TELL CITY - Tell City improved its shooting dramatically in the second half and beat Forest Park 40-26 in freshman basketball Thursday.

The Marksmen hit only 7 of 27 shots from the field in the first half, though "we got a lot of good looks, including several from within 5 feet of the basket," said Tell City Coach Dan Lacy.

But they hit 10 of 18 from the field in the second half.

They had their best free-throw shooting game, hitting 85.7 percent (6 of 7).

"We got off to kind of a slow start on offense, but for the most part defensively I thought we played pretty hard," said Lacy.

Sean Flannagan led the Marksmen with 12 points.

Shane Weedman added eight points and five rebounds, Greg Hollinden had six points, nine rebounds and three steals, and Trent Gunn had three assists.

Tell City, 7-2, will visit Hancock County tonight at 6:30.
