TELL CITY—Two fifth places were Tell City’s highest finishes in the Marksmen’s own girls swimming relay meet Saturday.
Castle won the seven-team meet with 140 points. Tell City finished seventh with 16.
“If Castle isn’t in the top three or four in the state after this weekend, I’d be shocked,” said Tell City Coach Mike Page. “And Jeffersonville isn’t very far behind them.”
The field also included Jasper and Mount Vernon, who won sectionals last year.
Tell City’s Sydney Brown, Madison Schuetter, Claire Bishop and Kassi Peter placed fifth in the 200-yard medley relay in 2:20.60.
Derrian Zabel, Brown, Samantha Allen and Bailey Powell took fifth in the 1,000 free relay in 13:20.52.
Sydney Goffinet, Zabel, Allen and Powell placed sixth in the 250 free relay in 2:48.39.
Those same four girls were sixth in the 200 free relay in 2:07.35.
Brown, Bishop and Schuetter were sixth in the 150 butterfly in 1:59.26.
Sydney Burton, Cat Diaz and Schuetter placed sixth in the 150 breaststroke in 2:08.97.
“I felt very good about where we are,” said Page. “Our times, for our first meet, were excellent.
“I’m confident they’re working hard and I’m sure they’re going to improve.”
Tell City’s next meet will be Dec. 2 at Boonville.
Team scores: Castle 140, Jeffersonville 94, Jasper 70, Mount Vernon 62, Vincennes Lincoln 36, Boonville 22, Tell City 16
