NEWBURGH – Vincennes Green defeated Tell City 13-9 Tuesday to stop them from winning the double-elimination District 7 Cal Ripkin Age 12 Tourney in Newburgh.

Coach Tyler Henning said the team only had six hits with Blake Haller going 1-for-1 with a double and two RBIs.

“Other than that we were walked five times,” Henning said. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Henning said they were tied 4-4 and Vincennes Green scored nine but Tell City came back and scored five consecutive runs in the top of the sixth.

C.J. Rowe pitched four scoreless innings and Spenser Beard and Justin Rogers shared two innings.

The biggest boost Tuesday was at the top of the fifth inning, when Mason Waninger and Beard were on base and Rowe hit a pop fly to right field, getting a triple and scoring two runs, Henning said.

Tell City will face District 5 runner-up from Bloomington during the Cal Ripkin Southwest State Tourney at 7 p.m. CDT Friday in Vincennes.
