Cail hopes to preserve company’s unique history in book of recollections

TELL CITY – Former Tell City Chair Co. employees will have the opportunity for the first time since the company closed to gather and discuss their recollections at the Tell City Chair Co.

Chris Cail, reunion coordinator, said many of these employees have not seen each other since the company closed.

“This is a great opportunity for them to meet up with old friends and talk about the good ol’ days,” said Cail. “The reunion will also serve to capture and record the history of the Tell City Chair Co.”

Cail is currently writing a book about the company’s history and said the book is getting quite large.

“It will probably have to be done in a few volumes,” he said. “The history about the company that I have gathered is quite extensive and very detailed, but I want more employee recollections of the company.”

He’s gathered several employees’ recollections but is seeking more.
“It’s the employees that made Tell City Chair Co. so great,” he said, “so they will play an important part in the book, too.

“With the aging of the former employees, we are losing that part of Tell City’s heritage and history and we need to document it now before its gone.”

Former employees, spouses and children of former employees are invited to attend.

The reunion is planned for Sunday, May 4, at the Tell City Depot from 1 to 4  p.m.

A group photo will be taken at 2 p.m. in front of the former office building.

Refreshments and appetizers will be served.
