DUBOIS—Two Tell City runners placed in the top eight to lead Tell City to second place among 11 complete teams in Northeast Dubois’ boys cross country invitational Tuesday.
Bedford-North Lawrence won with 54 points. Tell City scored 74, 18 ahead of third-place Jasper.
Tell City’s Zach Wilson placed seventh in 17:23 and Jordan Alvey was eighth in 17:33.
Other Tell City scorers were Devin McDaniel, 14th in 17:52; Nick Bower, 22nd in 18:12; and Colton Thomas, 23rd in 18:14.
J.D. Bryant, 38th in 19:04, also finished in the top half of the 78-runner field.
Tell City won the junior varsity race, taking seven of the top nine and eight of the top 14 places in the 50-runner field.
Darian Allen placed second in 18:19 and Andrew Dauby was fourth in 18:35.
Also scoring for the Marksmen were Brandon Gaynor, fifth in 18:41; Justin Peter, sixth in 18:55; and Corey Henderson, seventh in 19:02.
David McDaniel, eighth in 19:04; Cordell Snyder, ninth in 19:17; and Greg Clayton, 14th in 19:39, also finished in the top 30 percent of the race.
Tell City Coach Chris Hollinden called the races “more proof that we’re heading in the right direction as a team. . . . For the first time this season we beat Jasper in the varsity race. And the reserve team beat BNL, which two weeks ago killed us at their home meet.”
Tell City’s varsity will compete in the Jasper sectional at Vincennes Univer-sity-Jasper Center’s course Tuesday at 5 p.m.
