BIRDSEYE - Katie Goffinet hit .941 to lead Tell City's age-8 girls softball all-stars to second place in Pine Ridge's tourney last weekend.
Tell City opened the six-team tourney with two pool games, beating Ireland 13-0 but losing to North Spencer 10-9.
Goffinet, Kaydi Braunecker, Natalie Sanders and Brianna Bryant each went 3 for 3 against Ireland.
Goffinet and Savannah Alvey each went 3 for 3 against North Spencer.
In the single-elimination bracket Tell City beat Springs Valley 30-16 and Huntingburg TNT 22-21 before losing to Pine Ridge 16-15 in the championship game.
Tell City had 31 hits in 41 at-bats against Springs Valley, with seven of the team's 12 players each getting three hits.
Katelyn Hughes had a double and inside-the-park homer among her three hits.
Hughes was 3 for 3 with another inside-the-park homer and double against Huntingburg TNT.
Goffinet, Alvey, Emily Hagedorn and Bryant each also went 3 for 3 that game, and Peyton Litherland hit two triples.
Goffinet and Rachel Malone each went 4 for 4 against Pine Ridge and Hagedorn went 3 for 3.
Tell City hit .652 for the tourney, with eight girls batting over .600.
