Cannelton police officers learn from Mark Genovese Thursday about a new electronic-ticket system their department began using that day. The instructor, working under a contract with the Indiana Supreme Court's Judicial Technology and Automation Committee, explained officers can write citations and scan bar codes on drivers' licenses and vehicle registrations. Time spent issuing a ticket is cut, and officers' safety is enhanced because they spend less time in vulnerable positions on city streets.
