TELL CITY - Fourth-grade teacher Kim Strobel didn't know what to expect when her class at William Tell Elementary School was interrupted Tuesday morning during a student discussion about response journals.
With the help of Principal Laura Noble, Humane Society of Perry County President Jim Carter and Jim Adams, the group's vice president, surprised Strobel with the first Humane Society of Perry County Educator Award.
The honor recognizes Strobel's efforts during 2007 to educate students about the importance of spaying and neutering pets.
