TELL CITY - Tell City Junior High School will hold its honors program for sixth- , seventh- and eighth-grade students at 6 p.m. Thursday. At this time, students will be recognized for outstanding academic achievements. The program will be held at Tell City Junior High School in the gymnasium. Certificates will be distributed to students who have made the honor roll for all three nine-week grading periods or who have a cumulative grade-point averages of 3.33 or higher for the first three grading periods of the 2009-10 school year. Teachers will present departmental awards to individual eighth-grade students in their respective subject areas. A Principal's Award will be given to the top students in each grade who have the highest GPAs for the first three grading periods of the school year. The President's Award for Educational Excellence will be given to any eighth-grade student who has scored a pass-plus in math or language arts on the most recent Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress assessment and maintained a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the first semester. The American Legion Award will be given to an outstanding eighth-grade boy and girl. A celebration for eighth-grade students will also be held during the evening events. All eighth-grade students and parents are invited to attend the program where students will receive certificates of accomplishment on completion of eighth grade.
The administration and staff of TCJHS encourages all eighth-graders and their parents to attend. Reservations are not necessary.
