CLARKSVILLE - Andy Kast went 5-0 to lead Tell City to a 3-2 record in a six-team wrestling round-robin Saturday.

Tell City beat Providence 39-37, Shawnee 84-0, and Paoli 57-24.

The Marksmen lost to Southwestern 47-25 and to Milan, which went 5-0 to win the tourney.

Tell City actually tied Milan 37-37 but lost on a tie-breaker because Milan had more pins.

Kast wrestled his first match of the season only eight days earlier after being sidelined with a broken arm from a preseason car wreck.

He was a little rusty in his first matches but "he wrestled real well" Saturday, said Joe Litherland.

Competing in the 125-pound class, Kast scored three pins.

A.J. Flynn, Chris Martin, Justin Kleemann, Matt Leistner and Greg Batie each went 4-1 for the Marksmen, with Kleemann and Batie and each earning three pins.

Kleemann, who wrestled three 160-pound matches and two at 152, "had a real good weekend," said Litherland. And "Matt Leistner had a good day.

"Overall we wrestled a lot better than we had been lately."

Tell City, 15-9, will wrestle a round-robin at Reitz Saturday at 9 a.m. The Marksmen's first two matches will be against Castle and Reitz, both ranked in the top 20 in the state.
