TC spring cleanup set for June 3-6

TELL CITY – The Tell City Board of Public Works and Safety has set June 3-6 as the dates for the 2013 spring cleanup. Rules for the week will remain much as they were last year but the city will increase the one-time fee to help pay for the event from $3 to $4. That charge will appear on bills mailed in early June.
Postcards will be sent to residents and businesses with the specifics but most of the rules from past cleanups will remain. Items will be picked up with residents’ normal trash on their weekly collection days. Household trash must still be bagged and tagged.
No tires or scrap wood will be picked up. Also prohibited are refrigerators, air conditioners and any other items with Freon, paint cans, propane tanks and dangerous or toxic items such as batteries and paint.
Large dumpsters will be located at 1101 Fifth St. next to the city garage and residents may take their items to the dumpsters during regular hours of 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. An additional $10 fee will be assessed for excess loads. Watch for a detailed story the week before the cleanup begins.
