TELL CITY - Faced with a mandate to eliminate the community's combined-sewer overflows, the Tell City Common Council agreed Jan. 21 to move an $11 million project forward while taking steps to lessen the impact on ratepayers.
The council, meeting in a special meeting with John Seever of the accounting firm H.J. Umbaugh & Associates, agreed to shift some principal payments on a new bond issue for several years, until 1999 and 2006 bond issues are fully paid.
The shift will reduce some of the debt burden on residents.
