TC girls win 2 road games

LINCOLN CITY - Lauren Goffinet scored a career-high 25 points as Tell City beat Heritage Hills 51-45 in girls basketball Tuesday.

Goffinet, a junior forward-guard, hit 11 of 21 shots from the field, including 2 of 4 from three-point range, and made her only free throw.

Kara McClintic added 11 points and Dana Sibrel scored eight.

Goffinet and McClintic each grabbed seven rebounds and Sibrel added six.

McClintic had nine assists.

Tell City outshot the Patriots from the field 41.7 percent to 34.8 percent.

Danielle LaGrange and Lyndi Collins each scored 16 points for Heritage Hills, 13-7.

Kaci Kleeman grabbed 10 rebounds for the Patriots.

The Marksmen's victory avenged their loss to the Patriots in the PSC Classic Dec. 15.

Tell City also beat Mount Vernon 45-39 Saturday as Goffinet and Sibrel each scored 11 points and McClintic added 10.

The Marksmen won that game despite getting outrebounded 32-15 and getting outshot from the field 43.2 percent to 34.0 percent.

A key in their favor was they forced 27 Mount Vernon turnovers while committing only six themselves.

Goffinet made six steals and had four assists.

Sibrel led the Marksmen in rebounds with six. She blocked four shots.

Katie Schmidt scored 15 points to lead Mount Vernon, 1-18.

Tell City, 13-7, will host Forest Park for the regular-season finale tonight at 7.
