ENGLISH - Ian Reed was the tourney medalist as Tell City finished sixth among 10 teams in Crawford County's boys golf invitational Saturday.
Springs Valley won the nine-hole tourney with 175 strokes. Tell City shot 200 and Perry Central was eighth with 203.
Reed shot a 5-over-par 41 to lead the 49-man field.
One reason no one came close to par was the weather, said Tell City Coach Jim Meek. "It was wet and windy and also got pretty cold."
Other Tell City scorers were Alex Cole with a 51 and Victor Schutzius and Jake Roland with 54 apiece.
Corey Young was the Marksmen's fifth man with a 56.
Charles Weatherholt led Perry Central with a 47.
Travis Goffinet shot 50, Zach Graves 52, and Zach Rogier 54 to complete the Commodores' scoring.
Anthony Rennie was their fifth man with a 55.
Perry Central and Tell City each also had a match Tuesday, with Perry Central finishing second in a triangular at Old English and Tell City losing to South Spencer 166-188 at Rockport's Lakewood Country Club.
Reed shot a 4-over-par 40 at Lakewood, one stroke behind medalist Cody Meyer of South Spencer.
Other Tell City scorers were Young and Alex Daugherty each with a 49 and Logan Bolin 50.
Schutzius, who shot a 51, and Tyler Jennings, 53, also played in the play-six, count-four match.
Crawford County shot 164, Perry Central 187, and Forest Park 191 at Old English.
Graves shot a 41, one behind medalist Andrew Curl of Crawford County.
Goffinet shot 45, Weatherholt 46, and Rogier 55 to complete the Commodores' scoring.
Reuben Schwartz, playing in his first match, was their fifth man with a 59.
Three Perry Central golfers played in the junior varsity match. Logan Shearn led them with a 54.
South Spencer's JV beat Tell City 216-225. Adam Ramsey led Tell City with a 53.
