Swimmers make splash with six top-five finishes

JASPER - Four of seven Tell City Swim Club members made top five finishes during Saturday and Sunday's Jasper Summer Invitational.

Member Bailey Malone earned 14 points for her fifth place finish in the 200 meter individual medially in the age 13-14 group. In the age 15 50-meter freestyle race, Chelsea Malone also earned 14 points for her fifth-place win at Jasper Municipal Pool.

Emily Sprinkle earned a total of 28 points for her two fifth place finishes, one for the age 9-10 100 meter fly and the other for the 50 meter back stroke.

Swim Club member Amanda Wagner took second place in the age 13-14 100-meter breaststroke and third in the 50-meter freestyle. Her finishes earned Wagner 33 points.

Coach Jeff Simpson said the team did well overall in the competition.

Saturday and Sunday the team will compete in its own invitational at John F. Kennedy Pool in Tell City.

Warm-ups begin at 9 a.m. for ages 10 and younger and at 11 a.m. for ages 11 and older.

Meets begin at 9 a.m. and noon respectively. Watch for coverage in next Thursday's edition.
