PERRY COUNTY – A powerful line of thunderstorms downed entire trees and scattered limbs over a wide area Wednesday night, cutting power to some areas and closing roads.
No injuries have been reported.
Hardest-hit areas included the north side of Tell City, where trees fell on a mobile home and downed lines. In nearby Zoercher-Bettinger Park, a strong gust overturned a trailer and pushed a large slide-type ride into the park’s concrete-block restroom building. Some blocks were knocked over.
The trailer and ride are owned by Gene O’ Rides of Fordsville, Ky. Its employees were spending the night in the park ahead of Friday’s start to Tell City Moose Lodge’s Summer Fest.
City electric and street-department crews were out much of the night.
Trees were also downed in Cannelton and other areas of the county.
Rainfall totals varied. The Tell City Water Treatment plant logged eight-tenths of an inch.
