CANNELTON – The general-fund budget Cannelton leaders proposed for this year was reduced by the state Department of Local Government Finance, city leaders reported at a common-council meeting Jan. 13.

“They only certified $647,696, about $150,000 less than what we had asked for,” Mayor Mary Snyder said.

She and Clerk-Treasurer Arvina Bozarth would “just take so much out of all of the departments to meet that,” the mayor said in offering a resolution for the council to consider.
