St. Meinrad Fire Department annual open house set for Oct. 6

Day’s activities will include old-time farming demonstrations

ST. MEINRAD – The St. Meinrad Volunteer Fire Department, in conjunction with the Early Days Antique Club, will host its annual open house Oct. 6. The station is located along Indiana 545.
Chicken and pork-chop dinners will be served from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with hamburgers, desserts and ice cream available during the day.
Raffle chances will be sold during the day with a $1,000 first-place prize.
A Life Flight helicopter will land next to the firehouse at 11 a.m. with a kiddie tractor pull sponsored by Heritage Hills FFA beginning at the same time.
The band Sweet Water will perform from 11 a.m. to 2 pm. with the raffle drawing at 2:30 p.m.
There will be door prizes awarded during the day.
Antique farm equipment will be displayed with wheat threshing, corn shredding and corn grinding with a hammer mill and blacksmith demonstrations.
There will be tractor parade at 1:30 p.m. with judging at 2 p.m. Plaques will be awarded.
