TELL CITY - United Way of Perry County Executive Director Rebecca Fenn said she has received 50 registrations for the Bridges Out of Poverty presentation slated for May 7. She said they are only allowed 80 participants and encourages more people to register.

The event sponsored by the 4Community2 Collaborative of Perry County will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 7 at Evangelical United Church of Christ.

"This thought-provoking training will open your eyes to what those in poverty experience," said Fenn. "This training is very timely due to the economic crisis we are in when so many families are teetering on the brink of poverty."

This seminar is designed for professionals and community members who serve, employ or supervise people who experience generational poverty. Seminar attendees will investigate a mental model of poverty, review poverty research and analyze poverty by considering hidden rules of class, resources, family structure and language.

This training is being sponsored by the 4C2 Collaborative of Perry County which includes United Way of Perry County, Catholic Charities, Lincoln Hills Development Corp., Perry County Community Foundation and Southern Indiana Resource Solutions.

Cost is $10, which includes lunch and a workbook. Reservations are due April 30. Continuing education units are available. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
