256-page pictorial collection helps celebrate sesquicentenniel

TELL CITY - A new pictorial history of Tell City being published to mark the community's 150th anniversary will be available in July. However, the 256-page book's sponsor, the Tell City Historical Society, is currently taking prepublication orders through May 1.

Members have been working on the hardback book, which covers the history of Tell City from its founding in 1858, for the past year and its chapters cover sports, schools, churches, notable personalities, businesses and industries.

Each picture includes an informative caption researched by the society and includes the best-known names, dates and locations. The book includes an index for those searching for family members.

The books will sell for $39 each but a pre-publication price of $34 is being offered through May 1. Ordes are being accepted by mail at Tell City Historical Society Inc., P.O. Box 728, Tell City, IN 47586; at the Burris-LeClere Eye Center at 715 Main St. in Tell City or at the Tell City Historical Society Museum, located at Ninth and Franklin streets. The museum is open from 2 to 4 p.m. each Sunday.
