Sisters win MVP awards

TELL CITY - Sisters Lauren and Sarah Goffinet won two of the four Most Valuable Player awards presented at Tell City's fall sports banquet Wednesday.

Lauren, a senior, won the volleyball MVP award in just her second year playing that sport.

Sarah, a freshman, won the Most Valuable Runner award in girls cross country.

In boys cross country Alex Fenn won the Most Valuable Runner award for the third year in a row.

Amber Thomas was named the girls golf MVP.

No MVP award was given in football.

Boys tennis awards were not presented, as Coach Nick Weyer had a previous commitment.

No awards were presented in soccer since it is a junior varsity sport this year.

Academic all-state honorable mention: Lauren Goffinet

Girls golf

Most valuable player: Amber Thomas

Rookie of the year: Jessica Ballman

Most improved: Britney Hendershot

Best putting average: C.J. Fentress


Best offensive backs: Trent Gunn and Kyle Osborne

Best offensive lineman: John Faulkenberg

Best defensive lineman: Dylan Froehlich

Best linebacker: Matt Leistner

Best defensive back: Trent Nelson
